In coping with strong environmental regulations on restricting the use of solvents, such as PERC many dry cleaners began to search for an alternative method. The number of professional wet dry cleaners in Europe and the U.S. has increased in the last few years. Its time to enjoy solvent-free clothes for a healthier you and your environment!
What is PERC?
According to Green America, Perc is a synthetic, volatile organic
compound (VOC) that poses a health risk to humans and a threat to the
environment. Minimal contact with perc can cause dizziness, headaches,
drowsiness, nausea, and skin and respiratory irritation. Prolonged perc
exposure has been linked to liver and kidney damage, and cancer. Perc
has been identified as a “probable” human carcinogen by California’s
Proposition 65.
Perc can enter the body through drinking water contamination,
dermal exposure, or most frequently, inhalation. This is not only a
health hazard and environmental justice issue for workers in the dry
cleaning business, but for consumers who bring home clothes laden with
perc. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has found that
clothes dry cleaned with perc can elevate levels of the toxin throughout
a home and especially in the room where the garments are stored.
Nursing mothers exposed to perc may excrete it in their milk, placing
their infants at risk.
Perc is not only hazardous for people who work in dry cleaning
shops or bring home dry cleaned clothes. Perc can also get into our air,
water, and soil during the cleaning, purification, and waste disposal
phases of dry cleaning, according to the EPA.

What is Wet Dry Cleaning?
Unlike traditional solvent based dry cleaning process, professional wet dry cleaning will gently wash your hard to wash clothes with sate of the art cleaning machines and biodegradable, pH neutral [7.0/8.0] detergent. Garments come out smelling fresh, feeling soft to the touch and looking brighter and whiter! You can now enjoy wearing your clothes without toxic smells or allergic reactions. At Organic Cleaners, we care about you, your clothes, and the environment!
According to the Environmental Protections Agency, EPA, Computerized operations allow for precise mechanical control in order
to gently wash, dry, and finish garments. Modern wet cleaning machines
may be programmed for various settings such as mechanical action, water
and drying temperatures, moisture levels in the dryer, and water and detergent
volume. The flexibility of this technology provides cleaners with the
controls to administer a customized wet cleaning cycle suited to a garment's
specified needs.
